Chỉ việc làm ngớ ngẩn, không tự lượng sức, dùng một vật nhỏ bé và thô sơ để đong đếm cái mênh mông không thể nào đo hết. Thường dùng để chê cách nghĩ thiển cận hoặc mưu toan bất khả thi.
